FULL-TIME SELF-SUFFICIENCY COUNSELOR
This is a full-time (40 hrs. wkly) position, funded through the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) area United Ways/Funds and private grants. This position is a limited one-year term position with the goal to extend beyond that timeframe. The person hired to fill the position will work primarily with displaced homemakers and women in transition. Duties will include community outreach, facilitating workshops/support groups, providing crisis intervention and advocacy, as well as resources and referrals. Computer proficiency and knowledge of career planning necessary.
The mission of Life-Work Planning Center is to increase the emotional and economic self-sufficiency of women and their families.
Position requires a passion for advocacy and family stabilization. Excellent oral & written communication skills are also necessary. Additionally, group facilitation, counseling, organizational and outreach skills are required. Experience working with women in transition helpful. Criminal background check required. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license are also required.
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, community health, women studies, experiential education, or related field preferred. Comparable work and/or experience required. Bilingual a plus. Salary $36,500 to $37,500 dependent on education and experience. Benefits include paid holidays, generous PTO, and employer matched retirement funds.
