Hello! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sabina Alhag. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Corrections and a Minor in Family Consumer Science from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I have spent many years working as a certified nursing assistant working. I also have experience as a direct support professional. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We do game nights, we watch movies, we cook together. In the summertime we have barbecues once a week. It’s a fun time whenever we all get together. My family and friends are important to me and they are my everything.

I am from the Mankato Area and have lived in Mankato with my seven siblings and mother since July of 2006. Before moving to Mankato, we lived in Portland, Maine. My family is originally from South Sudan. Our journey from Sudan was filled with rule-breaking and lawlessness. Through that experience and my own experience of being an immigrant and a victim of discrimination, I have learned resilience, tolerance, and the importance of hope.

I love helping people. I feel as though that is my purpose in life. People tell me that I have a way of seeing who they are; I hope this helps me to help them.

I am beyond excited to join Life-Work Planning Center as a Self-Sufficiency Counselor. I am ready to learn and grow with the team. I look forward to working with existing partners and participants, as well as creating new relationships.
