Life-Work Planning Center offers a variety of pre-employment workshops to boost your personal and professional growth. Workshops are at no cost and open to anyone eligible who wants to enroll.

6 Weeks Starting in April 2026

The Strength*Balance*Self-Respect workshop series runs for six weeks with a new topic each week.

Here’s What You’ll Learn!

Confidence: Learn how to build and maintain your confidence
  • Identify sources of confidence
  • Identify signs of low self-esteem and how to become more confident
  • Discuss self-love and empowerment
Stress Management: Look at Positive Ways to Cope with Stress
  • Identify personal symptoms of stress
  • Identify common sources of stress
  • Identify healthy vs. unhealthy stress management techniques
Assertive Communication: Say what you mean while respecting yourself and others
  • Identify passive, aggressive and assertive behaviors
  • Identify components of assertiveness
  • Identify strategies for communicating assertively
Boundaries: Form healthy relationships
  • Identify types of personal boundaries
  • Identify collapsed, rigid and healthy boundaries
  • Discuss techniques for establishing healthy personal boundaries
Decision Making: Develop strategies to make decisions
  • Define the decision-making process
  • Identify tips and traps of decision making
  • Identify techniques for wise decision making
Goal Setting: Learn how to set and achieve your goals
  • Discuss the importance of an empowered mindset and dreaming
  • Identify fears that inhibit goal setting
  • Discuss SMART/Smarter goal setting

3 Weeks Starting in May 2026

This workshop series runs for three weeks and includes the following activities:

  1. Identify your strengths by completing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment and learn how to apply to life in the workplace
  2. Learn about resume types, how to build an effective resume, address any employment gaps.
  3. Expand your interview and job search skills.  Learn how to answer tough questions, ask impressive questions at an interview, and know where to look for employment.

SMART is an evidence-based Stress Management And Resilience Training. Participants attend once a week for two weeks and take a deep dive into the… 

  • Science: Get a backstage tour of how the brain works, along with a glimpse at the neuroscience behind stress and resilience
  • Stories: Learn the importance of sharing curious moments with one another
  • Smiles: Find rest, uplifting emotions, and motivation every day
  • Skills: Develop and implement a dedicated practice to decrease stress while increasing compassion toward yourself and others through connection
